Team India physiotherapist Kamlesh Jain has formally submitted his resignation to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Despite his current presence in New Delhi with the squad for the three-match T20 International series against Afghanistan starting September 13, the BCCI has yet to formally accept his papers.
Resignation and Notice Period
Jain, who joined the national setup in June 2022 during Rahul Dravid’s tenure as head coach, is currently serving a three-month notice period. Unless the board grants an early release, his final assignment with the team is expected to be the upcoming series in New Zealand, which concludes in early December.
Background and Reasons for Departure
- Jain, based in Chennai, was recruited from the Kolkata Knight Riders.
- He replaced Nitin Patel, who moved to the Centre of Excellence before eventually joining the Mumbai Indians.
- Sources indicate the decision stems from the extensive travel demands of the role. “Although he has enjoyed his association with the Indian team, he wants to avoid travel because of a young family,” a source noted.

Jain’s resignation follows several recent exits from the Indian team support staff. Long-standing fielding coach T Dilip departed following the recent tour of the UK, while assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate also moved on to join the Kolkata Knight Riders. The BCCI has provided no immediate comment regarding Jain’s departure.
