Twelve Arrested Over Terror Threat to Suffolk Islamic Event

A total of 12 people have been arrested across various locations in the UK following an alleged right-wing terror threat directed at an Islamic event. The UK Ijtima, which was being held at the Shrubland Hall country estate in Barham, Suffolk, was cut short on Sunday as a precautionary measure after law enforcement became aware of a potential serious threat.

Commander Helen Flanagan, who leads Counter Terrorism Policing (CTP) in London, stated that officers moved swiftly to carry out the arrests. According to official reports, eight men were detained under section 41 of the Terrorism Act 2000 and remain in police custody. Additionally, three other men were arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder, and one woman was taken into custody on suspicion of assisting an offender.

Of those arrested, police confirmed that one individual has since been released on bail, while three others continue to be held. Although the event was designated a major incident following the discovery of the threat, authorities have since stood down that status. A police presence has remained at the Shrubland Hall site, where it is understood that thousands of people had gathered for the event over the weekend.
